Deciding on what peaks to climb is not as easy as you think. Various Local Government Acts have made this a minefield. We've settled with the counties of England and Wales 1964.

The total height in metres above sea level of the peaks is 26,752! There's 62 of them. Lincolnshire has three high points which I find rather amusing because it doesn't exactly have a reputation as a hilly county unlike Yorkshire which also has three.


Then there's Hampshire which is divided into two, looking forward to our trip to the Isle of Wight! I expect I'll find a nice little swimming spot too, maybe I'll swim across!

                                          

I'm not anticipating buggering up a pair of trousers on every walk but that's 62 packets of crisps and 124 tea bags.


Tea will be made with freshly brewed river water and served in a china mug. Proper.

This weekend we decided to pick Worcestershire Beacon off. To be fair it wasn't much of a challenge, 425m and the car park is half way up.
I've previously walked the length of the Malverns and there was a real sense of satisfaction, it's a hard walk but just doing the Beacon felt a little like cheating. Still, we are on a mission with a deadline so there's an element of practicality to consider.

The main challenge was finding the necessary £4 for parking but we could only grub up £3.35 and one of the coins had a bit of strawberry lace with added fluff stuck on it so we parked on the road. Its an easy enough path up to the summit which you will share with many others. The views are great.
