Hoping for snow but getting mist.
We were very optimistic that we would get some snow as we climbed High Willhays, the highest peak in Devon at 621m and number 19 on the list, we were misled but I had taken the precaution of purchasing thermals. It was so warm that I chose not to deploy them. This was a mistake.
We had a little wait for Jenny to join us so the Kellie Kettle came out, tea and birthday cake time.

| Moor Brook tea.
There was a track that lead up from Okehampton Camp, nice to see Mountain Rescue with their dogs training, hoping we won't need them!
No one mentioned about the river to ford on foot but the trusty old footwear got us through including Jenny's new boots.
We had to have a chat about Jenny's very exciting forthcoming trip to Iceland and by that we don't mean the frozen food purveyor, much excite and very jealous.
The track is a very good one, turned off to the right but the mist had descended and it was quite tricky to see the summit. Well trodden track guided us to the ridge and then we had to walk alongside a boggy stream, but woohoo, we did it!
Time to crack open the coffee and chocolate orange.
It was just lovely to be on top of Devon even if we couldn't see our hands.
We reversed our route back down off the moor. Really lovely walk finished off by roast turkey sandwiches. We know how to live.
Farewell to Jenny and off to North Somerset, Porlock to be precise ready for my birthday and Dunkery Beacon.
I'd like to say that my birthday dawned bright and cold but it didn't, couldn't even see the top of Exmoor. Delicious breakfast at the lornadoonehotel.co.uk
Unwrapped my presents, I do love a birthday, we have 365 days to complete the challenge of 62 peaks!
Lovely drive up onto Exmoor, but the weather was shite. Parked up, opened the truck door and a gust of wind took the Thames Valley page of the road atlas away with it, one muddy foot print later it is saved but we'll need to rely on satnav for that area of the world in future.
Short but brutal walk up to Dunkery Beacon, obligatory photo and rapid walk back down. Thermals deployed today, I may be mad but I'm not stupid.
So we've cracked out the high points in the West Country, 5 down 57 to go but there was still Kilve beach, the highest tree in England, Burrow Mump and Glastonbury Tor to nail today finished off by birthday tea at Knightsfishrestaurant.com in Glastonbury and checking the worlds greatest Pre-Warboys road sign is still in place in town before we could head home.
That's 5 down, 57 to go...
