A little swimming trip

Rather annoyingly we've had lovely weather this summer which has meant that normally quiet lidos have been stuffed to the gunwhales with humans wanting to cooldown and inadvertently touching you.
I planned a trip to Lymington Seapool, as a child we walked around the edge of it but were never allowed in so this weekend was when I got to fulfil a childhood dream. It was not as I thought it was going to be and had shingle underfoot and was really a bit grubby. I did however enjoy listening to teenagers discussing sunscreen quite earnestly, when I was their age we talked about boys and cider and apparently the girl wearing the wetsuit (completely superfluous) had it on because normally they go to Woolacombe, I now feel that Woolacombe is the answer to all of life's great mysteries.

There were just too many people in the pool so we dried off and headed to a childhood favourite just around the corner, www.themayflowerlymington.co.uk . A good lunch was had and we set off to Saltdean.
The joys of modern life mean that you can book a room in a strangers house to rest your weary head. Things don't always turn out the way you plan. Very much looking forward to hitting Saltdean Lido we'd booked a room in Peacehaven but it turned out to be a tent. The mind boggles, the only way to get through it all was to drink a large amount of Malibu and hope for the best. Ah those crazy Latvians.
Luckily we'd booked our tickets for Saltdean Lido the next morning, it was packed. I'd like to post a photo but there were no pictures allowed, it seemed oddly joyless. Therefore Saltdean Lido scores low.
We had however had a fantastic swim in the sea the previous afternoon which made up for the disappointment of Lymington and Saltdean.

It was onwards and upwards to the Ladybird Book exhibition in Canterbury and Frida at the V&A.

I rounded the trip off to my beautiful home pool which isn't grubby and is always full of joy, the quite glorious Bathurst Pool in Lydney, there is no happier place in the world.
